ONDO 2020: Why Jegede is the best choice – Nelson Abila
As the October 10 Governorship election draws nearer in Ondo state, a renowned philanthropist and opinion leader in Iyani Akoko township of Akoko Northwest local government of the state has called on the people to vote for the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN.
Abila in a statement made available to Nigerian Cable news online on Wednesday said Jegede is committed to revamping education, paying the NECO fees for students and using education to bring back hope to the people
He said:
“The time has come again for us to decide on who governs Our Sunshine State for another four years. The choice of the person elected as the governor will not only affect our lives, wellbeing
and family, now, it will also determine what fate would befall us and the generation yet unborn. The choice of who we vote to be our governor should not be based on sentiments or pandering to purposeless politics. We cannot play politics with the education of our young ones, we cannot play politics with the issue of security that has rendered our State to be a hotbed of kidnapping. We cannot play politics with the health sector in the face of the reversal of the gains earlier made in maternal and child healthcare.”
“The issues facing us in Ondo State are many and run very deep. The neglect of the educational sector by the current government has taken education far out reach of many. This ought not to be the case. As we speak, many students are unable to register for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination, because the current government on assuming office in its wisdom decided that it will not longer pay for NECO exams for our SSS3 students, abandoning
what has been the tradition since 1999. The current government has shown so much disdain for the future of these students and indeed the future of our State.”
He also said:
“The hiking of the school’s fees at all the State’s tertiary institutions, an act of wickedness, has made many to drop out of school consigning them to desperation and despondency. It ought
not to be the case. Education has always been the bastion of hope for our people in Ondo State.
We are known for education in Ondo State. Education is our industry and the path that has taken many out of poverty. Any government which has done so much damage to education has no interest of the people at heart.”
” As we are on the verge of another election, I Dr. Nelson Abila aka OmoTisha is calling on our people to rally support and vote for Eyitayo Jegede of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
We need to change the tide of the decay in education. Let’s vote for Eyitayo Jegede who is committed to revamping education, paying the NECO fees for our students and using education to bring back hope to our people.
