Ondo 2020: Jegede Closes Case before Tribunal
The PDP and its candidate in the October 10 governorship election have closed their case before the Ondo state governorship election petitions tribunal.
Counsel to the petitioners, Onyechi Ipeazu said they have opted to Narrowed their case to the evidences presented before the court.
Ikpeazu said they are no longer interested in calling further witnesses.
The petitioners had called its first witness, who is the candidate of the PDP in the October 10 governorship election, Eyitayo Jegede.
Jegede told the tribunal that he is challenging the outcome of the election based on the violation of sections 177(c) and 183 of the nigerian constitution and the invalidity of the sponsorship of Akeredolu’s candidacy.
Counsel to inec, Charles Edosomwan prayed the court for time to further study the petitions and be able to open defence.
Counsel to the APC, Lateef Fagbemi, that of governor Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa, Akin Olujimi did not oppose the prayer of INEC.
They both respectively lauded the petitioners for not unnecessarily wasting the time of the court.
The court later adjourned to tuesday, January the 19th for the continuation of hearing.
