LAUTECH Resumption: We Will Not Resume – ASUU

The news of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH’s resumption may be shattered as the university’s chapter of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU claims to be unaware of the decision and will therefore dishonor it.

Yesterday, the institution declared resumption for students effective from today, September 15 and lectures are expected to commence fully after the Independence’s Day holiday.

But Biodun Olaniran, chairman of the ASUU chapter of LAUTECH, reacted to the released statement that the union would not honour the directives of the school.

Similarly, Muraina Alesinloye, chairman of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) at the university, said none of the
workers’ unions would resume because they were not aware of the resumption directive.

“We (ASUU) will not resume until
our demands are met. Until our demands are addressed, the strike continues.

“I am the chairman of SSANU, but I am speaking as the chairman of JAC now. We are not aware of the resumption and you will agree with me that you cannot obey any directive which you are not aware of.”
