JUST IN: Panic as Lassa fever breaks out in Achievers University.

Students and Staffs of Achievers University, Ondo State, are currently in panic mood, following reported cases of Lassa fever among students.

According to some students of the institution, who spoke to NIGERIAN CABLE NEWS on the basis of Anonymity, the Vice President of the students’ Union of the University, Igbekele tolulope – a 300 level student of Medical laboratory science technology, Emmanuel gift – a JUPEB student, and three others are reported to have been diagnosed of lassa fever in the last 24 hours, and are presently in the intensive care unit of the Federal Medical Center(FMC), Owo.
Our source also told NIGERIAN CABLE NEWS that serious tension and fear has gripped the Students Populace since the discovery. And that the Dean of students Affairs, Mr. Samuel Akintunde Akinola have invited some Doctors to address the students and allay their fears.

A Nurse working in the FMC, who also pleaded anonymity has as well confirmed the incident to NCN, she also said that the students are currently receiving treatment at the intensive care units. Efforts at Speaking with the school DSA however proved abortive at press time.
