JUST IN: OAU ‘Regrettably’ Suspends 2017 Convocation Over Strike Action

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University has announced the unavoidable suspension of the 43rd convocation ceremonies of the institution earlier scheduled to hold between December 13 and December 16.

Due to the national strike of the non-teaching staff unions of Universities, comprising the Non Teaching Staff Union (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian University (SSANU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), the suspension becomes inevitable.

According to the statement signed by the university’d Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, the university regrets any inconveniences the postponement might have caused
the general public, most especially the invited guests, the graduating students, their parents and guardians, friends and
well wishers, the alumni, lovers of Great Ife and all other stakeholders.

Recall, the institution declared an end of the year break for the students to last till January 2nd, 2017 in spite of the strike.
