JUST IN: Nigerian Breaks Guinness World Record, Reads For Longest Period Ever
A Nigerian man, Olubayode Treasure Olawunmi has broken the world record as the man to read for the longest hours ever.
In the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Marathon Reading Aloud” Category, Olawunmi surpassed the former winner, Deepak Sharma to have read for 113 hours and 15 minutes in 2008.
He announced his emergence on Twitter early today.
“113 HOURS? BEEN THERE; DONE THAT!
I am delighted to announce that I have officially surpassed the current Guinness World Record for the “Longest Marathon Reading Aloud” Category!
Hey! As a proper Nigerian, I want to put some “jara” on it!”, he wrote.
Bayode says he took the initiative for the youths; to remind them that education is the bedrock of development.
He said he did “this for Nigeria – for the world to know we’re a great nation – and yes, we do have libraries.”
Bayode began reading in You Read Library, Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba at 1:30 PM on Monday, February 26, 2018 and ended this morning.
