JUST IN: Kanu, IPOB Leader Reacts To Army’s Declaration

The leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has swiftly reacted to the declaration of his pro-Biafra separatist group as a terrorist group by the Nigerian military.

In a statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, John Enenche, IPOB was just labeled terrorist group in spite of “the formation of a Biafra Secret Service, claimed formation of Biafra National Guard, unauthorised blocking of public access roads; extortion of money from innocent civilians at illegal road blocks, and militant possession and use of weapons (stones, molotov cocktails, machetes and broken bottles among others) on a military patrol on 10 September 2017.”

Responding on this, KANU denied the activities of IPOB as being terrorizing or violent in any way. He established that the activities of the Biafrans were announced to be nonviolent from the onset.

He said this in a phone conversation with journalist this evening.

“IPOB is a non-violent group. We do not kill neither do we ask anyone to kill for us. We are not armed and our records are clean”, Kanu stated.

“We are freedom fighters not terrorist. We believe in dialogue, personal commitment and the education of our people”, he further stressed.

On the occasion of Biafra Secret Service, Kanu noted that the information has been misconstrued.

“There are misconstrued information in this. They’re vigilantes not secret service; to protect our people”, he stated.

Ending, Nnamdi Kanu revealed thee group will do everything within their power and law to ensure that they are not tagged as terrorist group.
