JUST IN: Why I Visited Obasanjo – Saraki
Senate President Bukola Saraki has revealed the reason for his Monday evening visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Saraki while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital after the meeting that lasted for about 45 minutes said he went to fulfill his promise of visiting the Obasanjo library, after missing the official opening held last year.
Saraki went further to commend the effort of the retired Army general in putting in place such a structure for the advancement of knowledge acquisition.
However, there are speculations that his visit may not be unconnected to the political unravelings in the country.
The embattled senate president had last week also met with former military ruler, Ibrahim Babangida, in the latter’s home in Minna, Niger State.
Mr Saraki’s meeting with the past leaders is believed to be related to the 2019 elections. He recently defected from the ruling APC to the opposition PDP.
Like Mr Saraki, Messrs Obasanjo and Babangida are both expected to work against the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
