JUST IN: ‘Video On IGP Doctored’ – Police
The Nigerian Police Force has discredited the authenticity of the trending video subjecting the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris to public humiliation.
The Police Boss while giving a speech at the Technical Force commissioning in Kano yesterday, was obviously seen struggling with fluent reading.
He was found colloquially employing lines like ‘Transmission, transmission’; ‘I mean, I mean’ among other embarrassing gesticulations, according to a video captured by Voice of Liberty newspaper.
In the Force’s platform, #AskThePolice on Twitter where Nigerian citizens interact with the security men, the Police regarded the video of the IGP’s speech to be doctored the video.
Dr. Adekola Adewale, a senior lecturer of University of Lagos had asked saying:
“I saw a video yesterday on social media about the Inspector General of Police not able to read his own speech. Some of us suspect it is a doctored video, can you clarify that please? Thank you”.
The Force replied: “Thank you for your question. Yes it was doctored”.
To add, Oluseun Onigbinde, the founding partner of BudgIT, a civic organization that simplifies Nigeria’s budgets for common man, doubted the video as well.
He took to his Twitter page to say:
“I have heard the IG speak at an event in Lagos and he spoke clearly. They should check that video. Something is wrong”.
