JUST IN: Ambode Visits Buhari To ‘Report’ Tinubu, Others
The governor of Lagos state, Akinwumi Ambode, is currently in a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The All Progressive’s Congress’ governor is seeking reelection, but it is getting clear that he does not have the support of his predecessor and national chairman of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the ambition.
Mandate Movement, a group fiercely loyal to Bola Tinubu is said to have endorsed Jide Sanwo-Olu, a former commissioner in the state to be the next governor in 2019.
A presidential source said the meeting Ambode is having with the president is about the opposition to the reelection bid of the governor by some influential members in the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Apart from Sanwo-Olu, Obafemi Hamzat, also a former commissioner in the state, is also wrestling to contend with Ambode to obtain APC ticket for the 2019 election.
