JUST IN: 8 Dead As Dangote Truck Crushes Bus In Imo

No fewer than eight persons have been confirmed dead as a speedy truck rammed into a fully-loaded commercial bus in Imo state on Thursday.

At the Imo Rescue market popularly called ‘Malaysia’ in Umuaghu, Obowo local government, the truck reportedly belonging to Dangote Groups, collided with the bus along the Abia – Akwa Ibom  road.

Eyewitnesses revealed that four people died instantly at the scene of accident while four others gave up after rushing them to the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia, Abia state.

Giving account of the fatal accident, Benjamin Sunday said the event happened like a thunder strike as screams of passengers from the hit vehicle emanated.

‘While some people thought the truck in motion dragged the bus with the side-way hook, I can assert that it was not a drag but a collision.

‘I cannot even recount the number of times the bus somersaulted right in front of our shop’, he stated

‘We ran to rescue the victims but some of them couldn’t make it out’, he bitterly said.

Confirming the death statistics, Benjamin mentioned that two women and a child of about 10-year-old belonging to one of them died immediately while the bus driver had his last breathe before getting to the hospital.

The remaining four people died while they were receiving medical attention in Umuahia.

Chinedu Solution also established the same number of dead victims only that he couldn’t narrate the incident in spite of the shock that grasped him.

While our correspondent was at the scene of incidence, the Federal Road Safety Commission and Police were still there to salvage the congestion till today.
