JUST IN: Buhari Holds Closed Door Meeting With PDP, APC Leaders
President Muhammadu Buhari on
Friday met behind closed doors
with the leaderships of the All
Progressives Congress and the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at
the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting was reported to have
started around 11.10a.m with the vice-
president, Yemi Osinbajo, chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, and the caretaker chairman of the PDP, Ahmed Makarfi in attendance.
Other APC members attending the
meeting include the National Legal
Adviser of the APC, Muiz Banire,
Olorunnimbe Mamora, Tony Momoh, former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, amongst others.
Those from the PDP are Ben obi
and other members of the caretaker committee.
On the reason of the meeting which held for about one hour, President Buhari said “the meeting with PDP and APC was not a political gathering, but a symbol of our unity and an expression of the maturity of our (Nigeria’s ) democracy”.
“Opposition does not mean hostility, enmity or antagonism.”
“Democracy needs opposition, one which is vibrant but responsible”, he also tweeted.
