How Herdsmen strangled my cousin to Death – Akeredolu’s aide

A Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on New Media, Mr. Gani Muhammed Ajowa has narrated how four men suspected to be herdsmen reportedly killed his 48yr-old cousin, Dayo Ibiye.

Nigerian cable news online Reported how Ibiye was killed on Friday on his farm at Ajowa Akoko in Akoko North west local government of Ondo state.

Gani Mohammed said the fulani herdsmen and his cousin were involved in serious altercation earlier when the herdsmen started grazing on farmlands in the area.

According to him, Ibiye warned them not to encroach on his farm but the herders insisted on grazing on his farm, claiming that the farm and the planted crops belonged to “everyone”.

It was gathered that he was attacked with cutlass but they didn’t succeed, forcing the four herders to strangule him when they could not overpower or kill him with cutlass and gun.

Gani Mohammed said “the herdsmen came back today (Friday) and attacked him with different weapons but when they realised that he was not affected, they strangled him to death.”

  • After that first altercation, Mr Dayo Ibiye should not have gone to the farm without support or a means of defending himself.

Anyways, I think it’s full blown war now! If anyone thinks there is help coming from any government either Federal or State, he/she must be deluded.

I call on all “Sunday Igbohos” in every part of Yoruba land to rise up to the occasion. It’s better you get counted or you get destroyed.

All hands must be on deck!!!!
