Hon Adefiranye’s First Year: Transformative Achievements And Unwavering Commitment To Constituents

It has been exactly one year since Honourable Ayodele Festus Adefiranye, the representative for the Ileoluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo federal constituency, was inaugurated into the National Assembly. Globally, it has become customary for elected officials to provide an account of their first-year activities, ensuring they adhere to their campaign promises and policy agendas.

The last twelve months has been marked by transformative achievements. His decisive victory has been validated by numerous impactful initiatives and actions, confirming the wisdom of his constituents’ choice.

Having started his legislative journey in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Adefiranye is well-versed in the processes of lawmaking. His experience as the Deputy Chief Whip of the 9th Ondo State House of Assembly has equipped him with valuable insights that benefit the hardworking people of his constituency.

Since the inauguration of the 10th Assembly on June 13th last year, Adefiranye has leveraged his experience to advocate for the reconstruction and dualisation of the Ore, Ondo, and Akure federal road in the 2024 budget. He ensured this critical project was prioritized and adequately funded.

The House subsequently directed the Ministry of Works to assign the project to a reputable contractor and ensure its timely completion to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians and boost economic growth.

During his campaign, Adefiranye pledged to prioritize the welfare of his constituents. Over the past year, he has fulfilled this promise by securing at least fifteen federal jobs for his constituents, a milestone described as unprecedented by many.

His dedication has had a tangible impact on his constituency. Adefiranye has engaged with various stakeholders, ministries, departments, and agencies, showcasing his ability to build consensus across party lines—a key trait of effective legislators.

Adefiranye has also made notable progress in improving infrastructure within his constituency. His efforts include the development of roads such roads project in his constituency which includes, Sky Way, High Chief Lisa Lane off Sky Way, and Chief Sola Akinfemiwa Lane beside Capt Akinyosade’s house off Sky Way. In Okeigbo, he facilitated the construction of Iloro Street, Off Aiyetoro Road, and Itaare to Okeisa Street. In Ore, his infrastructural initiatives includes Rainbow Street and King Emmanuel Street. These projects have enhanced accessibility and contributed to local economic growth.

To support educational advancement, Adefiranye organized a summer coaching program for senior secondary school students in his constituency. The program concluded with students receiving back-to-school packs, including notebooks and stationery, to encourage their academic pursuits.

The coaching sessions were held across seven centres in the Ileoluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo federal constituency. Outstanding students from each centre were recognized and rewarded for their performance.

Adefiranye emphasized the importance of education, encouraging students to focus on their studies as the foundation for their future success. Competent teachers conducted the coaching classes, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence needed for the new academic year.

Just recently, the House of Representatives Committee on Health Institutions held a public hearing on the establishment of Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery in Okeigbo, Ondo State. Once established, it is set to become a beacon of excellence in nursing and midwifery education, training, and research. It will empower aspiring healthcare professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills, significantly advancing healthcare standards in the region.

Adefiranye also demonstrated his commitment to public safety and welfare by addressing the tragic fuel tanker explosion in Ore, Odigbo local government, which claimed over 30 lives in July 2023. He initiated a motion in the House of Representatives to investigate the incident and prevent similar occurrences. The House established an ad hoc committee to probe the incident and directed the National Emergency Management Agency to provide relief to the affected victims.

Reflecting on the accomplishments of his first year, it is evident that Adefiranye is dedicated to making significant strides and delivering impactful representation in the National Assembly.
