This year’s edition of the International Youth Day held on August 12, 2017 was welcomed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between The Followership Series Nigeria (TFS NG) and The Ekiti Rescue Team (ERT-18) in Ado-Ekiti, the capital city of Ekiti State. The MoU is prepared between both parties on the Execution of the #VoteNotSell otherwise known as the #TeakMaTabo Campaign of TFS NG across the Sixteen (16) local government areas of Ekiti State in preparation for the Gubernatorial Elections which is upon the state in the coming year.

The #VOTENOTSELL campaign, an initiative of The Followership Series Nigeria which was first launched in October 2016, is a public reorientation campaign aimed at sensitizing electorates on the inestimable value of vote cast above any form of monetary or material inducements by political organizations or candidates before and during electioneering process. The campaign inspires the electorates to request for candidates’ manifesto, policies and governance blueprint for reformation and transformation of the debilitated and decayed sectors of the society. The campaign in 2016 recorded a combined 3million social media users’ impression and with the engagement of about 60,000 people across Nigeria and abroad.

The MoU agreed upon and signed by TFS NG and ERT has a lifespan of ten months in which both parties will work tirelessly to achieve the objective of the partnership – which is to sensitize Ekiti State people across the three Senatorial districts, six Federal constituencies and sixteen local government areas on the need to independently vote candidates of their choices without been influenced by monetary or material benefits from candidates and their political parties. The Campaign which will begin on Social Media will also be replicated offline via door-to-door campaign across the State to ensure the citizens understand the value of the voters’ card and the power of choice vested upon them either to make or mar their future and that of their children through their thumb.

While speaking at the Occasion, the Team Lead of The Followership Series Nigeria, Mr. Oluwatosin Akinbulumo stated unequivocally that TFS NG is a non-political civil society organization which however contributes to issues relating to Governance and sustainable development of the society. He stated that the organization is open to partnership with other social/community development based organizations to work on selected projects which are in consonance with the purpose of her existence.

He appreciated Mr. Ademola Ilesanmi who is the Convener of the Ekiti Rescue Team for offering TFS NG the opportunity to come to Ekiti State, partnering to ensure this important message is passed across Ekiti State. In response, Mr. Ilesanmi Ademola stated that it takes the collective efforts and sacrifice of all to ensure Ekiti State is rejuvenated and made great which is the core essence of the Ekiti Rescue Team.

Aladesuyi Temitope, the Head of Events of The Followership Series Nigeria joined the Team Lead as the two representatives of the organization who signed the MoU with Ademola Ilesanmi and Sina Awopeju signing for the ERT.

The Followership Series NG is a citizens’ targeted value reorientation series focused at building a new generation of independent, responsible, responsive and well equipped citizens of Nigeria who would challenge the Status-quo and achieve greatness in life for the benefit of themselves and the larger society.
