Governing Council lifts Daramola’s Suspension; Calls him back to Office As F.U.T.A V.C.

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure(FUTA) has recalled the suspended Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, and ordered him to go and resume duty. According to an official statement from the Governing council, dated 18th May 2017, the suspension earlier pronounced on the V.C from the Federal Ministry of Education is a betrayal of constitutional due Process. As the University is Autonomous as long as it has its Governing council in place.

However, a Staff of the University who spoke with NIGERIAN CABLE NEWS on the basis of anonymity said, that the conspiracy against the embattled V.C became obvious, when the controversial letter of suspension was back dated by three days (when the University Governing Council was yet to be inaugurated).

He further said, that the basis of the face off between the V.C & the None Academic staff Union (NASU) of the University is not unconnected from the Use of the University Internally Generated Revenue. He went further ” FUTA NASU want the V.C to share the University IGR with to them, and the V.C refused. That is why they are blackmailing him everywhere.”
