Fayemi sacks two commissioners, Reshuffles cabinet

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has relieved Mrs. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, a former commissioner for health and Mr. Gbenga Agbeyo, a former commissioner for education of their Appointments.

The governor also Appointed eight new commissioners and seven special advisers.

Fayemi, while inaugurating the new appointees on Monday urged them to see their new assignments as an opportunity to serve and not an avenue to enrich themselves.

He said:

“We have recently carried out a midterm assessment of this administration and made a few changes in line with our performance and emerging reality towards refining our government agenda and strengthen our team,” he said.

“This account for the appointment of new people into various positions of authority in the state. It also accounts for the re-designation of some ministries and the creation of new bureaus.

“To those coming on board, I encourage you to imbibe our ethos which sees public office as a privilege and an opportunity for service and not an occasion for self-aggrandizement or pecuniary gain.

“Very soon, electoral politics will be here, you must avoid any form of distraction from your primary duty of delivering public good to the good people of Ekiti state.”

The newly appointed commissioners are Akin Omole (information and values orientation), Oyebanji Filani (health), Akin Oyebode (finance and economic development), Olabode Adetoyi (agriculture and food security), and Oladiran Adesua, (housing and urban development).

Others are Olabimpe Aderiye (education, science and technology), Mariam Ogunlade (women affairs and social development), and Iyabode Fakunle-Okhiemen (environment and natural resources).

Muyiwa Olumilua was moved from Information, Tourism and Value Orientation to investment, trade and industries while Moji Fafure, ex-commissioner for women affairs was appointed special adviser, gender empowerment and social mobilisation; Folorunso Olabode, former commissioner for agriculture is nowthe special adviser for community and rural development and Olusoga Davies, ex-commissioner for trade and investment is the special adviser for political matters.

Also, Ayoola Owolabi, ex-commissioner for finance was appointed special adviser for investment, trade and industries.

The governor appointed Femi Akinwunmi as the chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Febisola Adewale, a member of the local government service commission.
