COVID-19: Ondo AAC Guber Aspirant, Akinbowale Olusa Donates Relief Materials To Communities
An aspirant under the African Action Congress (AAC) for the 2020 governorship election in Ondo state, Akinbowale Olusa has donated relief materials to reduce effects of the lockdown order by the state government on the people.

He urged the people not to panic as he reiterates his commitment to the better welfare of his people. The relief materials were donated under the Imole Foundation established by the governorship hopeful.
His full statement is as attached below:
ÌMÓLẸ̀ FOUNDATION: CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) RELIEF
PACKAGE FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE IN OUR COMMUNITIES
This is indeed a very trying time for all peoples all over the world. The lockdown policies
instituted by governments in most states and countries across the world, in order to curtail
further spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), is a necessary inconvenience that we
must all endure. In many countries around the world, there was an increased buying and stock
piling of foodstuffs and other essential materials by many households before the lockdown
began.
Not all fingers are equal. There are many individuals and households across the world who lack
the capacity to make provision for themselves during this difficult time. The stark reality before
us in Nigeria is that, more than 60% of our people live in extreme poverty; below the $2.00USD
United Nation’s daily benchmark. Previous governments and administrations have failed our
people. Public infrastructures are weak, and no form of food or social security is provided.
With unemployment rate of about 34.7% in Ondo state, and majority of those working living
on daily income, it’s obvious that hunger might make the stay at home policy difficult to
comply with. The hard choice will be between death by hunger or death by corona virus disease
(COVID-19).
The welfare of all the people and residents of Ondo state is of utmost concern to me. However,
due to very limited resources, the Ìmólẹ̀Foundation would only be able to extend the first batch
of our relief materials (foodstuffs) to some of the most vulnerable and needy among us: such
as the widows, widowers, elderlies, orphans and others in our communities across the 3
senatorial districts of the state.
Ìmólẹ̀ Foundation is an NGO established to light out the darkness of ignorance, unwholesome
mental altitudes, poverty and unemployment, by empowering the citizens to hold leaders
accountable to provide good governance for the society. The NGO organises training
workshops and diverse empowerment programs to achieve her set objectives. As our humble
capability increases, it will be our great pleasure to expand the distribution of these relief
materials (during the second and subsequent batches of the current program) as well as to improve and expand the accessibility of our other activities. My dear people of Ondo state, I wish to again encourage us at this very trying period to please stay calm. Don’t panic! Let not your heart be troubled. We have survived difficult times in the past and we shall pull through this pandemic safely. When this health crisis is over, a global economic recession has been forecast to follow, due to the severe impact of the pandemic on businesses across the world. The high unemployment rate and poor infrastructures in our state will further be compounded by the on-coming economic recession. To lead us through such
challenging times ahead, Ondo state will need a young, dynamic, intelligent, compassionate,
hardworking, honest, determined, dedicated and resourceful team player to lead us. The next Ondo State Governorship election will be our chance to elect such a man. Your son: Dr Akinbowale Olusa is that man. He will be the light to lead us through the dark times. He will be there to serve you.
We shall not be victims of COVID-19 in God’s name. Amen. Please stay at home. Stay safe and stay strong.
Thank you and God bless you all.
Signed:
Dr Akinbowale Olusa
