Why Buhari Cancelled Today’s FEC Meeting
The Federal Government has given a reason for the cancellation of the federal executive council meeting expected to hold today, adding that the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations holidays left no time to prepare for it.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said in a statement that the meeting was called off due to the inability of the government to prepare for the weekly meeting due to the Sallah holiday.
The minister said that “the two-day public holidays declared for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations left little or no time to prepare for the weekly meeting.”
President Buhari was at last week’s FEC meeting, which was his first in over three months.
Buhari, who returned to the country more than two weeks ago, had cancelled the weekly meeting a few days after he returned from London, United Kingdom where he spent 104 days, to attend to his health.
Excited ministers who attended last Wednesday’s session gave the President a standing ovation at the beginning of the meeting.
