Buhari Calls Emergency Security Meeting Over Boko Haram Attacks

President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned the service chiefs to an emergency security meeting over the killing of Nigerian soldiers by Boko Haram insurgents.

The disclosure came following the backlash of the public against the inaction of the Federal Government since the attack on November 18.

Although some estimates put the death toll at over 100, the army failed to state the casualty figure when it spoke
on the attacks on Friday.

“The president has called an urgent meeting with the service chiefs,” the source was quoted as saying.

“And the families of the latest victims of the Boko Haram are being identified and contacts made before a government pronouncement on the tragic attacks.

“This, it is understood is the reason for the silence of the government over the incident,’’ the source added.

Before now, the president had directed Mansur Dan-Ali, minister of defence, to Chad for an emergency meeting
with Chadian President, Idris Deby, on the deterioration of security at the Nigeria-Chad border.
