BREAKING: Oyegun Resigns, Withdraws From APC Chairmanship Race
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun has resigned his position as chairman of the ruling party.
Oyegun made the disclosure at his Abuja residence in a meeting with newsmen Friday night.
“Even though, I had the desire to re-contest as National Chairman of the Party, I have decided that it is ultimately in the best interest of the Party for me to withdraw from the race,” Oyegun said.
There have been speculations that Mr Oyegun won’t contest the chairmanship seat at the party’s convention on June 23 following President Muhammadu Buhari’s stance on a change of guard at the party’s top level.
From all indications, former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole is favoured to emerge the new National Chairman of the APC.
