BREAKING: INEC Declares Obaseki winner of Edo Guber Poll
The Independent National Electoral commission(INEC) has declared governor Godwin Obaseki of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the Edo state September 19th Governorship election.
According to the INEC state returning officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh in Benin, Obaseki gathered 307,955 votes to defeat his closest rival, Pastor Ize-Iyamo, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who gathered 223,619 votes.
According to the results, Governor Obaseki won in 14 of the 18 local governments areas of the state
The APC state Agent at the collation center however refused to sign the Recorded copy of the election results on the ground that his principal instructed him not to sign.
The total valid votes was 537,407, Rejected votes was 12,835, while the total votes cast was 550,242
