BREAKING: FG Unveils Indigenous Airways After 15 Years [PHOTO]
The Nigerian Government has just launched the new Nigerian Airway carrier, Nigeria Air.
The minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika unveiled the new logo this afternoon London at the ongoing Farnborough International Airshow.
This new country’s airline is coming 15 Years after the demise of Nigeria Airways and 6 after Air Nigeria.
According to the minister, the new carrier a public/private initiative, aiming at 84 routes.
He added that the FG is negotiating aircraft orders with Airbus, Boeing and other OEMs.
New terminals in Lagos and Abuja Airports will add 11 million passenger capacity in each of the two airports. Lagos currently does 8 million per annum (was built in 1979 for 200,000 passengers annually), while Abuja does 5 million.
Minister Hadi Sirika added that the Nigeria Air is scheduled to commence operations in December 2018.
