BREAKING: Akure Stands-Still As Students Block Roads, Protest AAUA Fee Hike

The double lane Oba Adesida Road in the heart of Akure, the ondo state capital is presently held to standstill as student have blocked both sides of the road in Protest against the school fee increment in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.


The students who turned out for the early morning protest on Monday, numbering over 1,000 mounted roadblocks at different spots along the ever busy road at the commercial center in the metropolitan city.

The unexpected reality about the protest is that shop owners and citizens are obviously giving their moral supports to the students, despite the difficulties associated with the road blocks.

Reports have it that simultaneous protest actions are also on-going by AAUA students in Abuja and Lagos state, in solidarity with those in the University host state.

The students’ Union President of AAUA, comrade Ijanusi Olawale, while speaking with nigeriancablenewsonline.com said the protest will go on until the government yields to their demand and revers the fee hike.
