19 Burnt To Death In Akure-Owo Road Accident

No fewer than 19 Passengers were burnt beyond recognition in accident that occurred on Akure-owo Highway at about 3:00am on Saturday, Nigerian Cable News online has gathered.

According to the P.R.O of the Ondo state Police command, Mr. Femi Joseph. The accident involved a fully loaded 18 seater bus moving towards Abuja and a lorry moving in the opposite direction.

The lorry was said to have collided with the bus while trying to avoid a pot hole on the road, after which the bus went into flames with no single survivor.

Nigerian Cable News online also gathered that the drive of the lorry ran away immediately after the accident which occurred around the Akure airport junction and in still at large at the of filing this report.

Residents of the community around the accident point were said to have protested the long time neglect of the bad road immediately after the accident but were calmed by the police.

Bodies of the victims of the accident have been deposited at the state specialist Hospital mortuary in Akure.

Mr. Femi Joseph said the police is presently investigating the incident and searching for the fleeing driver.
