WHY BOLA TINUBU SHOULD RESIGN HIS PRESIDENTIAL ASSIGNMENT By Bidemi Adeniyi
Events unfolding in the APC family across the country are pointers to the fact that the presidential assignment given to Asiwaju Tinubu is at best an exercise in futility.
The party has been witnessing more crisis since Asiwaju was given the assignment instead of the anticipated reconciliation.
The cold war between the National Chairman of APC, Chief Odige Oyegun and Asiwaju Tinubu has been reignited.
Crisis in the Kaduna state chapter of the party has become messier. In the same vein, Ondo state Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu recently declared that he does not welcome the peace making effort of Asiwaju in the Sunshine state. Despite the visit of Asiwaju to Sokoto, there seems to be no noticeable harmonious relationship amongst APC gladiators in the state.
Majority of APC senators are prepared to silence any dissenting voice in their bid to allow President Buhari derive any advantage from the sequence of elections as released by INEC.
Governor Abdulahi Ganduje of Kano state recently declared that his relationship with his predecessor, Rabiu Kwankwaso had gone beyond reconciliation. The latter has sadly remained banished to Abuja since he delivered Kano state for President Buhari in 2015. The case of Imo state has not been any different as Governor Okorocha has continued to run the state like his personal estate; while the army of aggrieved party members continue to increase by the day.
Virtually all the APC governors, especially those of the South west definitely have axes to grind with some governorship aspirants in their states. These are differences informed by personal ambitions which will only take the grace of God to foster any reconciliation.
Above all, it is doubtable if Asiwaju Tinubu could ever reconciled millions of disillusioned Nigerians with the failure of President Buhari. Asiwaju must also realize that he did market President Buhari to millions of Nigerians that are now regretting their electoral choice. More so, Asiwaju ought to have realized by now that the president is only out to use and dump him once again.
Since the assignment given to Asiwaju Tinubu is failure bound from the beginning, the most honorable thing for him at this material time is to give up the task before he lost the last vestige of respect Nigerians have for him.
