Benue Massacre: Trouble Looms For IGP As Buhari Gives Fresh Orders
Uncertainty persists over the job of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris as President Muhammadu Buhari has rolled out some fresh orders after He breached the first to relocate to Benue during the brutal killings in the state.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday summoned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris over his disobedience and gave him new assignments which may determine the next action from the President over him.
This was disclosed in a statement via the presidency’s twitter handle.
The statement read “Pres @MBuhari today summoned the Inspector-General of Police to explain his flouting of the presidential order to remain in Benue State.
“The President has also asked for a comprehensive report on Police Operations in the affected States, after which further decisions will be made.
It would be recalled that Buhari during a visit to Benue on Monday said he was unaware the IGP failed to heed his order.

Come to think of it, what difference would IGP relocating to Benue make? Can police prevent the herdsmen from striking? The IGP provided the most potent solution to resolving the Tiv/herdsmen crisis but nobody is willing to listen to him to wit: suspend anti grazing law. So simple, yet so difficult to comply with. So why would IGP remain in Benue and doing what? I beg no pour sand sand for IGP job jare.
If anti grazing law is suspended and peoples farm are destroyed do you think the farmers will fold their hand why will the herders not embrace a modern technology which is ranching or is there any underlying reason that is not stated? History is being made today but tomorrow some will cry in their grave when the notice their own stupidity
I am yet to understand this ‘relocation’ thing. The IGP resides in Abuja, does that make Abuja more secure than other parts of the country ?
Would the police become more efficient in places where the IGP relocates to ?
Think the IGP has to spend a week in every State capital to nudge the police from its slumber.
Is this not mockery ?
Is this not an evidence to it that the security apparatus gulping the biggest chunk of our budget in this country lacks adequate efficiency ?
