AUSTERITY: Abuja Residents Invade Warehouse, Loot Foodstuffs

A warehouse belonging to the Agric Department of the federal capital territory administration (FCTA) has been attacked, vandalized and looted at Tasha in Abuja by an irate mob in the city.

It was gathered that the warehouse, located in Karimo, Phase 3 Region of the FCT, Abuja, was raided on Sunday morning.

It was also gathered that the residents carted away foodstuffs and other items amidst the growing hardship in the country over the hike in the prices of food items.

Meanwhile, the police in Abuja have been deployed to the area to disperse the looters.

The spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident.

Adeh, however, added that the situation had been brought under control.

“The situation is now under control,” she said.
