APC Reacts Over Maina’s Appointment, Sack
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed shock in the reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman, Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), to civil service.
Maina, who was reported to be involved in corruption allegations while he was the chairman of PRTT.
Abdulrahman Dambazau, minister of interior, had earlier said it was the office of the head of civil service that posted Maina to his ministry.
This stirred up controversy within the polity before President Muhammadu Buhari ordered Maina’s dismissal and demanded the report of a probe on his reinstatement.
Addressing reporters on Tuesday in Abuja, Bolaji Abdullahi, APC spokesman, said the development was shocking.
“We are all shocked like any other person. It is almost unbelievable that such a thing can happen,” he said.
“However, we are all delighted that President Muhammadu Buhari has taken very decisive punitive action against those that are involved.
“We are also delighted that he has ordered full scale investigation into the circumstances that led to this individual to be reinstated into the public office.”
Abudullahi said the APC believed that those found guilty in Maina’s reinstatement would face appropriate
punishment.
