Another ZLP chieftain, Andrew Ogunsakin escapes assassination attempt

The Zenith Labour Party has asked the President of the Federal Republic, the Police High Command and the DSS to save Ondo State from rising cases of violence as the State heads for governoship polls on October 10.

The Party through its Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Olatunde, said that something urgent must be done to arrest the drift into uncontrollable anarchy after one of its members allegedly escaped an attack in Akure, the State capital.
“Today, Wednesday 30th of September, 2020, a chieftain of the ZLP and former SSA to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Mr Andrew Ogunsakin, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in front of his house in Alagbaka, Akure.”
Olatunde who said the failed attack took place early evening on Wednesday said three men who are resident in the house recounted the events as follows:
“Ogunsakin’s driver had gone to refuel the Toyota Hilux truck, he Ogunsakin, has been riding in all day. He was on his way back when he was trailed to his house by men in a White Hiace Bus and a blue Toyota Corolla.
“One man carrying a gun headed straight for the driver while waiting to have the gate opened.
“The driver on seeing the armed man jumped down and ran into the house using the pedestrian entrance.
‘”Seeing that there was no one else in the truck, the assailants banged on the gate several times before zooming off at the shout of residents.”
Ogunsakin, it is obvious, the statement continued, “escaped the planned attack only because he was not in the vehicle.
“The truck driver said the man who assailed him alighted from a blue Corolla Car parked close by the house.”
It is becoming crystal clear, the ZLP statement reads, “that there is now a desperate twist to the Ondo polls and the police command must buckle up or call for assistance from higher authorities if they consider the task too enormous.
“The ZLP restates that it is a peace loving party but wants the whole world to know that the incumbent, being the Chief Security Officer of the State, has, by action and inaction, been very promotive of violence and brigandage.
“Security agencies are enjoined to reeve up their activities and bring perpetrators of crimes to justice.
Having lost a member, Mr Taiye Okafor, to known APC thugs in Idanre with no consequence thus far, we are not prepared to allow any mishap come to any of our members, hence this Save Our Soul message.”
