Anarchy In Ondo APC As Two Parallel Leadership Emerge In LG Congresses
Like the May 5th Ward Congresses of Ondo APC, Reports from across the state has it that Saturday’s (May 12th) local government Congresses of the party was marred with violence and extreme show of power tussle between different blocks in the sunshine state chapter of the ruling party.
Following two parallel Congresses held simultaneously in Akure South local government, two different APC Local government Executives Emerged.
While a faction led by the Member of the House representatives, representing Akure south and north federal constituy. Honourable Afe Olowookere held their Congress at Isolo grammar school in the state capital and announced their local government executives. Another faction, led by the secretary to the state government, Mr. Ifedayo Abegunde had their Congress at the Mega school within the same metropolitan City.
Both however claimed to be the legitimate group with the authentic executives of APC.
A similar but more violent situation played out in Irele local government of Ondo south. A group loyal to Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, the Commissioner for Budget and planning was reported to have hijacked the Congress in Irele, a development which motivated violent attacks from a disgruntled faction loyal to Senator Yele Omogunwa.
Ten people were hospitalized for various degrees of injuries sustained from the riot.
Similar scenarios played out in many other local government areas across the state.
However, the Ondo state APC acting chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin surprisingly tagged the Congresses as peaceful and successful across the state.
