The former lawmaker who decried the incessant loss of lives to preventable things in the university community in a statement made available to newsmen said there is an urgent need for government to widen and flatten the hill on the road
“Government needs to ensure, as fast as possible, that the road is widened and the hill along that route is flattened. There should also be an embankment on the roadsides with a very wide setback. This will prevent vehicles from leaving the road to kill people in their homes and offices.”
The former member representing Akoko Northwest state constituency II also called for a diversion of all heavy duty vehicles from the university’s main gate road to prevent further loss of lives on the road.
“It is my belief that a reoccurrence can be prevented if government diverts all trucks from the road. The road is always busy with students and their activities, and any road crash will claim many lives of young minds that are committed to proffering solutions to the myriads of problems bedevilling our nation.”
Araoyinbo prayed for the repose of the departed souls while calling for calm amongst students and residents of the community to enable government do the needful in ensuring the loss of lives on the road becomes a thing of the past.
