Akeredolu’s Aide Accused Of Fraud, Diversion Of Funds By Ondo Students
The National Association of Ondo state students has accused Mr. Banji Adewunmi, the special assistant to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on youths and students affairs of colluding with the association’s President to defraud Ondo state students and diverting funds running to N1,000,000 of the Association for Personal use.
In a cummique signed by majority of the National executives of NAOSS, made available to nigeriancablenewsonline.com. the students expressed their dissatisfaction and passed a vote of no confidence on their president, Akeredolu Olanrewaju, warning the public not to relate with him in the name of the association.
Below is the communique unedited:
COMMUNIQUÉ OF AN EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE CENTRAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL HELD ON THE 11th of January 2018.
As summoned in accordance with section (17) Subsection (3 and 4) article (a) of the sacrosanct constitution of our noble association by the Assistant Gen. Secretary of the association.
It became crucial to call for the meeting in order to decide the counter measures to employ against the commercialization of the association and other anti-students tendencies.
As required, a 2/3 majority of the executive members were present at the meeting as attached with this communiqué.
After several hours of submissions, counter submissions and voting, the following positions were jointly agreed upon. It is therefore indispensable to get the general public informed that;
1. We are displeased with the conduct and unsolicited interference of the Special Adviser to the Ondo state governor on Youths and students matter (here-in referred to as SA)
2. All moneys and other remuneration collected in the name of the association by the SA in association with the NAOSS(Ondo) national President ( here-in referred to as the President) and fraudulently shared between these two individuals be returned ;A sum of 100 thousand naira lobbied for and collected by the SA and the President as December gift in the name of national executives, A sum of 50 thousand naira meant for mobilisation during the education summit and some other amounts which will be revealed below.
3. A vote of no confidence has been passed on the President and a letter requesting his probe be sent to the senate arm through the clerk in the next 96 hours.
5. The money released for the repair of the association bus and its face-lifting by the state government in 2017 which was diverted by the SA and the President be returned.
6. The four months advance subvention (a sum of 400 thousand naira) illegally collected on the guise of bus repair by the President ( with adequate cover by the SA) be accounted for.
7. The “Yahoo-Yahoo” style of leadership being administered by the President in conjunction with some leadership theorists and political bed wetters be checked or put an end to.
8. The proposed plan to sell the students bursary right for a sum of 2.5 million naira by the SA and the President be shelved by the state government in other to avoid disrespectful and violent confrontations from Ondo State students.
9. The President is advised to suspend any administrative step until the next executive meeting.
10. That the General secretary should make the letter head paper available to the AGS in the next 72 hours or 2/3 members of the executive will be forced to adopt a new letter head paper in accordance with section 18 subsection 1(a,b and c) of our constitution.
The general public should therefore note that any form of letter forwarded for courtesy visits or financial assistance is a means to defraud them and such act be reported to the appropriate channels.
We therefore assure all Ondo state students to be rest assured that we will deliver on our promise to improve their social and academic welfare. However, we seek your understanding to grant us some time in a bid to snatch our association from these unscrupulous and unprogressive individuals. We will as well, thank you for the support towards this struggle and we assure you of victory through God.
It is, to us a war with aggregates of battles like this, though, we might lose some battles, but we will surely win the war.
