2023: Hundreds Dump PDP for APC in Akoko As Party Continues Ward Rallys

Over 130 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Irun, a town in Akoko North West Local Government area of Ondo state have joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The decampees were introduced to party members at the Ward rally in Odo Irun/ Oyinmo Ward 7 and Oke Irun/ Surulere Ward 8 on Monday.

Speaking on behalf of the group of decampees, Babatunde Okebiya Aladesuyi, popularly known as Abela said they cannot afford to stay in a disorganized party.

According to Abela, “The PDP is confused at the National and local levels. We can not continue in such a disoriented party.”

Leader of the other group of decampees, Olu Suberu stated that the quality of candidates paraded by the APC is one of the major reasons why he and his people are joining the party. He also described the PDP as a party of jesters.

Welcoming the decampees, the Chairman of APC in Akoko North West Local Government, Kehinde Obanla noted that there is no newcomer in the party. He stressed that party members are treated equally and fairly.

The Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council in Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency and a former Commissioner in Ondo state, Rasheed Badmus appreciated the people of Irun Akoko for the massive turnout.

The Chief whip of the state Assembly and member representing Akoko North West Constituency II, Taofeeq Muhammed also appreciated party members for their patience and support. He enjoined them not to relent in their support for the party.

The legislative aide to Rep. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Apalowo Thalis praised the orderliness and maturity of the party members during the rally. He described the turnout as a sign that the party will win massively at the polls in February and March elections.

In his closing remarks, the Director of the Media and Publicity Directorate Of the Presidential Campaign Council in Akoko North West Local Government, Ife Ehindero plead with party members to deliver their units for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President, Jide Ipinshagba as Senator for Ondo North Senatorial district, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as Member of the Green Chamber representing Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Fatai Atere as a Member of the state Assembly representing Akoko North West Constituency I and Taofik Muhammed as member of the state Assembly representing Akoko North West Constituency II.
