2019: Oshiomhole Not Fit To Lead APC, Must Resign – Tunji Abayomi

Dr. Tunji Abayomi, an Aspirant for the Ondo North Senate seat in the 2019 Election on the plaform of the All Progressives Congress(APC) says the Party’s National chairman, Adams Oshiomhole should because he is not fit to lead the Party.

Abayomi said this in Akure on Wednessday during a press briefing of the Ondo state chapter of the APC, Where they issued a 24 hours ultimatum to Oshiomhole, to reverse his decision on the automatic tickets given to three sitting senators in the state.

Present at the briefing were: Sen. Tayo Alasoadura, representing Ondo Central District(APC), Mr Ade Adetimehin, the Chairman of the state APC, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, an aspirant vying for senatorial seat in Ondo North and Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa, vying for senatorial seat in Ondo South and many others.

Nigerian Cable News Online reported that the National Working Committee(NWC) of the party on Tuesday cleared Sen. Tayo Alasoadura, Sen. Ajayi Boroffice and Sen. Yele Omogunwa, the three serving senators representing Ondo Central, Ondo North and Ondo South Senatorial Districts respectively without conducting any primaries in the state.

Alasoadura said at the briefing that:

“We will never accept the emergence of any candidate unless through lawful means. All aspirants in the race must be given equal opportunities”.

“The act of collecting billions of naira from party members, desirous of contesting elections on the platform of the party only to be unconstitutionally screened out, is tantamount to a scam and detrimental to image of our party.”

“There has been a high level of inconsistent standards applied and a violation of the party constitution and that of Nigeria.

“We also observed manifest unjust and unjustified preferential treatment of certain categories of aspirants .

“Consequently, Mr Adams Oshiomole , the National Chairman of the party is given 24 hours to reverse this wrongful decision,” Alasoadura stated.

He added that if nothing meaningful was done, the chapter of the party would think and act on what to do.

According to him, the disqualified aspirants were screened out without due regard to the extant laws.

He said that the disqualified were not told and that there was no room made by the NWC for appeal which he said was against the guidelines of primaries of the party.

The senator said that the NWC should know that the step could break the fragile peace existing in the party, vowing that the chapter would challenged the decision with intense vigorosity.

“We, the aspirants of APC in Ondo State, not excluding me purportedly cleared to contest, hereby reject unequivocally, the so called decision of the NWC on this issue.”

“It is a known fact that the NWC did not meet to discuss any matter relating to the screening of aspirants, let alone take a decision on same. In consequence, the representation is false and unfortunate.”

“In making this assertion, we make bold to proclaim that we leave all options open until the manifest error of judgement is corrected,”he said.

Tunji Abayomi, asked Oshiomole to resign, saying he does not have capacity and tolerance to lead.

Abayomi added that there was nothing automatic in democracy
