2019 Declaration: Fayose Is On His Own – Makarfi Reacts

National Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has distant himself from the declaration of Governor Ayodele Fayose as the presidential candidate of PDP for 2019.

Although Fayose publicly made his interest known last Thursday but the party leader, Makarfi reaffirmed the position that the party had already zoned the presidential ticket to the North.

Speaking with journalists in Kaduna Catering Equipment Leaders – Finance Approval in 24 Hours, Makarfi said: “He (Fayose) is on his own. What he is doing is not in compliance with the position of the party. The party’s position has not changed.

“The convention has zoned the presidency to the North and the chairmanship of the party to the South.”

Makarfi also dismissed speculation that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may be given an automatic ticket to contest the same position on the platform of the PDP if he finally decides to join the party before the 2019 general election.
