2019: David Mark, Others Meet Babangida Behind Closed-doors

Erstwhile Senate President, David Mark had a meeting with the ex-head of state, Ibrahim Babangida on Saturday in Minna, Niger state.

The meeting lasted for two hours at the Hilltop residence of the former military leader.

David Mark was in the company of senators Zainab Kure, Tunde Ogbeha and Suleman Adokwe.

Mark, a senator since 1999, recently made known his ambition to run for president in 2019. He is seeking to contest on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform.

Mark is said to have made the trip to seek Babangida’s prayers and support.

Babangida has previously hosted some PDP presidential aspirants in his home.

They include Senate President
Bukola Saraki, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, former governors Attahiru Bafarawa, Sule Lamido and
Ahmed Makarfi.

Zainab Kure, director-general, David Mark Presidential Campaign Organisation, told journalists that the presidential aspirant can reposition the country for optimal growth.

“He was a former military governor, communications minister and senate president of the federal republic. So
he possesses all the required political acumen to lead our
country,” she said.

She urged Nigerians “to support the electoral processes” to enable the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) “discharge its constitutional mandate”.
