2019: Atiku Blasts Buhari Over Public Health Care

For the second time in seven days, former vice-president Atiku Abubakar has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari over the poor funding in the Nigerian health sector.

First was on Tuesday when he blasted the Presidency for bosting over the septuagenarian’s 800 meters trek, from the prayer ground during Eid-el-Kabir celebration to his private residence in Daura, Katsina state, as an indication that he is fit for another term in office.

Atiku faulted the statement made by Buhari’s spokesman, he maintained that he would not be asking Nigerians to vote him because of his physical fitness but because of his past records on job creations.

Again, as the President promised to
take care of the cost of medical treatment of a 28 year old serving member of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Okenala Ahmed who is visually- impaired, Atiku picked an error in the kind gesture.

Although he commended Buhari for showing empathy, he however stated that the event could have been better handled if the Nigerian Public healthcare is well-funded.

On the other hand, he blamed the poor funding on the foreign expenses the country incurs whenever Buhari travels for his medical care in United Kingdom.

“I commend @NGRPresident @MBuhari for paying medical bills of a blind corps member 5 months to the 2019 election, but I remind him that if he had invested the public funds he spends on his London medicals on public healthcare, he wouldn’t need to do this”, Atiku had written on Twitter on Thursday.
