2018 Budget: Why Politicians’ Salaries Should Be Reduced – Senator Adeyeye
Senator Olusola Adeyeye representing Osun Central Senatorial district, on Wednesday threw the National Aseembly in disarray as he called for a reduction in allowances of all politicians across all arms of the government.
As the Senate debates over the N8.3 trillion naira Appropriation bill submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari before the joint session of National Assembly, Senator Adeyeye expressed that one huge way the 2018 budget can be meticulously reduced to enhance the reality of it is to cut down the cost on politicians’ allowances.
He said this at the Senate’s plenary session on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.
But, as the senator gave his opinion, he was almost shouted down as many other Senators screamed at him, saying “it begins with you”.
However, Adeyeye established that the legislature must also bear the brunt of reducing the 2018 budget and not just shouldering the executive with the incurred cost.
“If we are all going to complain,
let’s face it.”
“I don’t want deficit budget. If we don’t want it and we want to slash the budget of N8 trillion to N4 trillion, some things must give way including the allowances of all politicians.”
‘Yes, I agree. I’m just saying that there is no gain without pain and we all know
it. I agree with you, beginning with me, I agree.
“Here in this place, weeks after weeks, we create new entities that will consume more money at a time when we know the revenue is not increasing. Even this N8 trillion that we are talking about, I bet you, all of us, including myself will go and ask for more things for our constituency, where do we want the money to come from?
“If we are going to face the truth, we must face the truth together”, the lawmaker ended.

Absolute true
Bitter truth that they must chewed down to understand the situation of the economy. Those legisthieves are not willing to face reality while they burdened the people that voted them. Those people are wicked thieves. God will judge you all.
