Alleged Bribery: Oshiomhole Threatens To Sue Saraki

The national chairman of the ruling All Progressive’s Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole has threatened to file a legal suit against Senate President, Bukola Saraki, if he cannot corroborate his accusation of bribery against him with facts.

Oshiomhole’s stance is contained in the statement by his chief press secretary, Simon Ebegbulem early on Thursday.

At the remembrance ceremony held in honor of Oloye Olusola Saraki, the father of the Senate President, the latter claimed that the APC national chairman lacks moral ground to continue occupying that position in spite of the allegation of receiving bribes from some state’s governorship aspirants in their last primaries across the nation.

Few weeks ago, Oshiomhole was in deed summoned for questioning by the Department of State Securities (DSS) over same allegation of bribery as the Imo, Zamfara and Ogun state governors among other aggrieved party members are crying foul on the side of their leader in the elections of the APC flagbearers of their respective states.

While Saraki flawed Oshiomhole’s leadership and asked for his resignation on the question of morality, Oshiomhole’s reaction calls the statement “unwarranted, pathetic and irresponsible.”

In the words of Mr Ebegbulem, Oshiomhole’s media aide:

“It is equally sad, but not unexpected, that Saraki, who is politically drowning, would make such libelous comments against the national chairman of the APC. And I challenge Saraki to mention one name of an aspirant that gave money to the national chairman or we file a legal action against him.

“Whereas, the basis on which he made those comments was tenuous and unjustifiable, it is on record that Saraki has been in the eye of investigations by the EFCC and the ICPC for sundry cases of corruption,” the statement read.

“We challenge him to mention one person who has claimed that he gave money to Oshiomhole to influence him and the decision of the party’s
national working committee (NWC) in the just- concluded primary elections.”
