Why I’ve given Scholarship to Hundreds in my Constituency – Adeogun

By Abiodun Tadese

The Federal Lawmaker representing Akoko Southeast and Akoko Southwest Constituency, honourable Ade Adeogun says he is sponsoring students to study in his constituency in order to boost the economy of the host communities.

Adeogun made this disclosure while addressing Ondo State Online Media Professionals at a media parley in Akure on Saturday

The lawmaker, who is sponsoring two sets of two hundred students in a three years program at Upland college of education, Ifira-Ipesi, said the institution has increased migration into the host communities, thereby driving their economy.

Adeogun affirmed that his venture into politics was borne out of his desire to serve his people and impact positively on his immediate communities, adding that qualitative education and relevant skills acquisition are his own areas of focus to lift his constituents out of poverty.

While speaking on the recently approved coastal rail project which is expected to pass through sagamu-Ore-Benin and other towns and cities, he said lobbying is on going to convince the policy makers on the need to extend the rail line from ore to Ondo through Akure, Owo and Akungba in Ondo State.

speaking further on his Scholarships Programme, the lawmaker said the major objective of his three years scholarship Programme is not just to make his people qualify for good jobs, but also to improve the economic situation of his constituent.

In his words, “my primary purpose for that institution is economic, not just about helping people get education, but the impact of that school on three communities in that axis, driving more people there and then affecting the economic development of the axis.”

Asked if he has a second term ambition, he said he believes he has performed enough for a re-election, noting that ranking legislators get better on the job and influence more projects and opportunities to their constituents, than a first timer.

He also urged Nigerians to continue to believe and work assiduously for the consolidation of the gains of democracy, adding that Nigeria is ripe for electronic transmission of election results as this will add greater value to the electoral processes.

Adeogun had on Friday the 8th of June 2021, given scholarship to another set of 200 students in tertiary institutions across the country, while also donating textbooks, notebooks and computer sets to secondary schools in his federal constituency.
