TRENDING: ‘Why I Sang Logo Benz’ – Olamide

Olamide Adedeji, the popular Nigerian pop artiste is currently having it tough because of the massive banters thrown at him and his co-singer, Lil Kesh, over the controversial new single hit song titled ‘Logo Benz’.

The song, released on Wednesday partly has the lyrics as: “I dey pray to Jesuu (Jesuu) ko wo wole (kowo wole o
If money no enter I go do blood money o…
I dey pray to Allah (Allah)
Kowo wole o… (Kowo wole o)
If money no enter i go do blood money o….”

In this period, frivolous gangsters have littered the society forcefully ripping panties from ladies in night clubs and other shady places they could, the ‘Logo Benz’ cover picture has the brand logo of Benz car but stylishly designed with G-String in the very centre.

This pictorial representation is highly depicting of the female underwears as the singers made allusion to it in their song.

While the public have criticized the song on moral grounds for promoting quick-money making means, both the featured singer, Olamide and the lead singer, Lil Mesh made attempts to justify their message.

Lil Kesh briefly cleared that they were not trying to justify what was already in existence but merely ‘creating awareness’.

Olamide also took the bulls by the horn, asking that the Nigerians should not cone after musicians over the explicit lyrics.

He stressed on the awareness strived to spread to increase the caution in our society.

His tweet early this morning reads:

‘Logo Benz is for the 3rd party to have a glimpse into the current state of youths in our society. (Runs girls x runs boys) “ I’m not sure if there’s anything like 2 much awareness, but pardon me if there is. It’s all over the news, it’s always been in movies, don’t box musicians.’

Against this tweet, a Twitter user with the username @Tyu9cegan, made a connection of Olamide sometimes called ‘Baddo’ to the Ikorodu cult group known with similar nomenclature ‘Badoo’.

“ I knew it from onset ,there is some kind of relationship between badoo ritualist and badoo Olamide.Logo Benz put it in perspective. in movies, don’t box musicians”.

Meanwhile, many people are already raising voice for the ban on that song but no response has been got from Nigeria Broadcasting Commission for now.
