Wife of the foremost Yoruba traditional ruler, Ooni of Ife, Olori Silekunola Naomi Ogunwusi has appealed to Doctors under the auspices of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), to consider the present situation in the country and call-off the strike action embarked upon by the Association.

Olori Ogunwusi made the appeal while presenting gift items to mothers and new born babies at Sckye Hospital in Akure on Wednesday.

She stressed that the Doctors needed to consider the health standard of general public and resume duties, as this could lead to loss of lives.
In her words “I will first of first say that duty comes first and the work of medical doctors are sacred, actually close to the work of God, its a passionate profession that is beyond money.
“It is about fulfilment and I will just encourage our resident doctors to call off their strike for the sake of common man in this country.”
She also appealed to government to see the need to come into good terms with the striking doctors and ending the strike in the interest of the common man.

“Our government should also do something about the strike urgently, since in any sector of the government, the health sector is very important, it is how you treat doctors they will also treat patient.
Olori Ogunwusi also commended the infrastructural facilities being used at Sckye Hospital,” it is a very lovely place as we all know that health is wealth, Sckye Hospital is a healthy environment, and it is kudos that a place of such can be in the center of Akure, Ondo capital city to serve humanity.

While reacting to this in an interview with Nigeriancablenewsonline.com, the founder of the hospital, Dr. Thomas-Wilson Ikubese said the hospital management and staff are delighted to receive the queen at the health facility, he equally appreciated her kind gesture for donating gift items to mothers and new born babies at Sckye Hospital.
