Over 250 Adeogun’s Scholarship Students Graduate in Akoko
More than two hundred and fifty (250) of the over five hundred (500) students studying different courses on the scholarship scheme fully funded by the member representing Akoko southeast and southwest federal constituency in the house of representatives, honorable Ade Adeogun, have graduated from Upland College of Education in Ipesi community of Akoko Southeast local government in Ondo state.
The fresh graduates, who had their graduation ceremony on wednesday were full of joy and appreciation to Adeogun, for his financial and moral support, throughout their three years program in the tertiary institution.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Adeoye Samson said; “I wrote and passed my WAEC in 2019, but I wasn’t able to further my education because of lack of finance, until God brought Adeogun for me and many others” He thanked God for a leader like Ade Adeogun, while adding that no other elected leader has done anything similar in the history of the constituency. He also said Adeogun helped in roofing some of the school buildings, as a form of support to the institution. Adeoye studied computer economics.
Another beneficiary, Miss Yahaya Bisola, who studied social study economics at the college of education, said most of the beneficiaries had given up on furthering education at the tertiary level, due to lack of funding, before God brought Adeogun to assist them. she also said she considers the certificate she go from the program as a life-long heritage freely given to her by the benevolence of Honourable Ade Adeogun. She prayed that God should continue to bless Adeogun and his family, and populate the leadership space of the akoko nation with leaders like him.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Femi Agbede at the graduation ceremony held on the school campus, Adeogun expressed his joy for the opportunity to have helped the over 500 young constituents reclaim their lost years of academic pursuit, while placing them on a new pedestal to actualize their dreams.
The lawmaker described the gesture as a fillip to a life that is productive, reliant and independent. In his words, “I am moved by the testimonies of those who had lost hope of acquiring formal education because they were held down by funds, teenage pregnancy, lack of necessary push and other life challenges.”
Adeogun appreciates the Founder of the School, Professor Kayode, for being a progressive minded patriot, who has risked his personal resources to help his people, and assured that his collaboration with the School will not be affected by his political journey. “By the grace of God Almighty, my family and I shall sustain this collaboration for the benefit of mankind. This effort will outlive my politics and I hope that my children will take over from me” he added.
The scholarship scheme started three years ago, when Adeogun began the process of admitting the over 500 students for a 3-year tuition-free scholarship at the institution, in a bid to encourage indigent and ‘late-hour’ young constituents, to achieve their dreams as well as bringing gradual social change and economic turnaround to a part of his constituency, which has hitherto remained desolate.
