Libya Slave Trade: Charly Boy Leads Another Protest In Chains

Charles Oputa, the musician and social activist popularly known as Charly Boy led a protest to the ministry of foreign affairs today, Monday against the slave trade of Nigerians and other Africans in Libya.

Alongside the OurMumuDonDo, a civil society organisation, the protesters had a banner which read ‘Slave trade in Africa must stop’. They were bound in chains and had their lips sealed.

Speaking with journalists, Charles Oputa, leader of the protesters, said the Nigerian youth should be alive to their responsibilities and stand up against any form of injustice or oppression.

Deji Adeyanju, another protester who was the co-convener of ResumeOr Resign against President Buhari some months ago, explained that they were at the ministry to find out what the federal government is doing about the plight of Nigerians in Libya.

“We are here to highlight to the government plight of our fellow brothers in Libya,” Adeyanju said.

“We are here to ask , what government is doing? what step have they taken and what is the situation of Nigerians there? How many Nigerians have been brought back?”, he concluded.
