Gani Adams Is A Prayer Warrior, Prays With Bible, Qur’an – Wife
Erelu Mojisola Adams, the only wife of the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams has said her husband is very committed when it pertains to religion. Interestingly, she noted that Adams prays sometimes with either Bible or Qur’an.
Gani Adams, who was the former leader of Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, is just being installed as the new Aare Ona Kakanfo, thirty years after the Late Moshood Abiola was appointed for the prestigious position.
In the latest interview with his wife, Mojisola, she clarified on some facts mostly misconceived about the new Yoruba leader.
On why the husband is mostly seen wearing white and about his religious commitment, the wife was quoted to have said:
“His choice of white clothes is a reflection of how much he believes in holiness. It is not as if something bad will happen to him if he puts on another colour, his decision is purely informed by his attachment of white to holiness.
As a matter of fact, what people don’t know is that my husband is a prayer warrior. A lot of times, we hold vigil in the house and he’ll be the one to lead us in prayer; I am talking about Christian prayers. On his own, he sometimes prays throughout the night with the Bible or Quran because he believes there is only one God. His passion and energy for prayer amaze me”.
Erelu Mojisola also added that although as her husband was a Muslim he never restricted the family to his belief.
“Otunba Adams has never restricted any of us from practising the religion we want. All he cares about is for us to regularly communicate with God through prayers and keep His commandments. Our children attend church and mosque. I have been to Mecca even though I am a very devoted Christian. It is one God, so there is no problem in this regard”, she said.
Also, Erelu Mojisola said she doesn’t believe her husband will have any other wife apart from her in spite of the pressure of the laudable position he just attained.
Lastly, the wife narrated her ordeal before she later gave birth to two children.
She was said to have had over eighteen miscarriages but she annulled there was any spiritual connection to it because of the kind of person the husband had always been as a Yoruba activist.
“Initially, my husband was not moved and would always encourage me that God had the best plan for us but later when people started saying all sorts of nasty things, he became a bit troubled. Some people even said that he had used his spermatozoa in exchange for spiritual powers and that there was no way he could ever father a child. People said worse things but we kept calm. As a matter of fact, he endured and resisted pressure from several quarters for him to have a child outside our marriage.
It got to a stage that I was having a miscarriage once in three months and was constantly being taken to the hospital. There was a period I was placed on bed rest for three months and did not for once step outside that hospital ward. If I had to bath, the nurses would clean my body with bathe towels and water. It was a very painful and traumatic period for me. But even after all those, I still lost pregnancies.
However, when the time was ripe, God showed Himself strong and we are eternally grateful for the grace He gave us. We have a boy and a girl now”, she ended.
Gani Adams was credited by the wife to have impacted her in the marriage.
“From him, I have learnt to be closer to God, be patient and focus on success. My husband has taught me to be strong and handle tough situations. He has taught me to make huge sacrifices even when it is not sometimes convenient. Being married to Otunba Gani Adams has taught me how to love and touch the lives of others positively”, she stated.
