Deji Of Akure Bans Drumming For The Next 7 Days
The Deji and Paramount ruler of Akure kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi has declared Beating of drums in the ancient town of Akure forbidden for the next seven days with effect from today (Sunday).
This is to enable the King to observe his annual Ilefunta festival and his leave, during which he does not receive visitors or attend functions.
A statement signed by the Deji’s chief press secretary, Michael Adeyeye sent to nigeriancablenews.com reads in part as follows;
“In view of this, it is imperative to inform the general public that beating of drum under any guise during this seven days period is forbidden within Akure metropolis”.
“The annual leave which will begin on Sunday 17th September will end on Saturday 23rd September, 2017.”
Adeyeye said all roads leading to the palace will be blocked during this period while road users in this area are enjoined to use alternative and adjoining routes.
He added that all markets and stalls around the palace will be closed down during this period while residents are enjoined to comply with this directive and go about their lawful duties.
