Cancel Ondo LG elections now, ADC candidate tells ODIEC
The chairmanship candidate of the African democratic Congress (ADC) for today’s council elements in Ondo west local government of Ondo state, Dr. Felix Akinola has called for the immediate cancellation of the election process over alleged massive malpractice and electrical violence.
Akinola made this call while responding to questions from journalists on the Process.
The elections in many units in Ondo west local government were reportedly hijacked and distorted by thugs suspected to be loyal to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under the supervision of Police officers.
It was gathered that People went out in their numbers to vote their candidate of choice in the early hours but were sent back home by hoodlums with gun shots in units 6,7,26 of ward 7 of the local government.
It was also reported that ballot boxes were snatched in no less than 50 polling units across the local government, thereby depriving voters the right to perform their civic.
One of the eye witness, Mr. Akin James said:
“elections did not hold in Ondo west local government today as members of the public sustain injuries in unit 5 and 6 of ward 7 as they were chased away by hoodlums who prevented them from performing their civic right.”
The ADC Party chairman, Pastor Adegoke Raphael Olademiji also joined his voice to condemn the process, while alleging that his party members were threatened and injured.

The ADC chairmanship candidate also alleged that the thugs suspected to be loyal to the APC conspired with ODEIC officials to snatch ballots boxes while calling for a rerun of the election under strict supervision of the military, while adding that the Police officers posted to monitor the process had been compromised.
The ADC chairman also alleged that policemen protected hoodlums while they snatched ballots boxes in many wards.
He said Ondo residents watched in bewilderment as police and ODEIC officials in the company of alleged All Progressives Congress thugs, invaded polling units in the local government and unleashed violence on voters, disrupted polling processes and hauled away electoral materials.
However, the Ondo state Police PRO, Mr. Tee-leo Ikoro while reacting denied the allegations of violence, adding that enough policeman and other security personnel were at each polling unit to maintain peace and check acts of malpractice.
