BREAKING: Court Strikes Out Suit Challenging Ondo APC Rep, Adeogun’s Victory
A Federal High court in Akure has on Friday struck out a suit filed to challenge the candidacy of APC’s House of Representatives member representing Akoko south east/south west federal constituency in the National Assembly.
Honourable Justice Abdu Dogo in his judgement which lasted for over one hour said the case lacks merit because it was filed out of the fourteen days constitutionally provided by the law for challenging the election outcome, and that the counsel to the plaintiff failed to prove his case as provided by the law.
Following the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party Primary elections held on the 5th of October 2018, which produced Honourable Ade Adeogun as the winner and Party Candidate. Mr. John Adanike, a self acclaimed aspirant in the party primary for the Akoko southwest southeast federal constituency party ticket had approached the court on the grounds that there was no election on the said date, while also praying for a court order, restraining Adeogun from Parading himself as the APC candidate who emerged from the Primary election.
The court however held that the case is statute Bad because it was filed out of time, and that Adanike’s Lawyer failed to Prove his case.
Speaking on the Judgement shortly after the court session, chief A.O Ajana, the counsel to Adeogun Appreciated the court on the judgment and Adviced Mr. Adanike to Embrace the winner.
Efforts of Nigerian Cable News online to hear from Mr. Adanike over the judgment however proved abortive as he was conspicuously absent in court.
